Abstract:

Today organizations compete in the dynamic global market. Globalization, fast advancing technologies, and rapidly changing market conditions require organizations to focus on innovation. There are three other dynamic forces converging in the global market: (1) Commoditization of technologies, management processes, and even knowledge; (2) Gravitation of manufacturing to low cost regions of the world; and (3) Ever shortening product life cycle. Consequently, innovation imperative is not only a slogan but reality for organizations. The conventional product-focused innovation must be transformed to value-focused innovation. Such a new innovative approach requires the platform-based ecosystem to create new organizational values. This ecosystem must involve such new concepts as convergenomics (convergence revolution), collaboration with both internal and external partners, and co-creation of new value with customers and suppliers.

Speaker’s Biographical Sketch:

Dr. Lee is the University Eminent Professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, USA. Concurrently, he serves as the Honorary President of Woosong University, an innovative private educational institution in South Korea. Dr. Lee is a graduate of Seoul National University and received his PhD degree from the University of Georgia. He is a globally known scholar in the fields of Management Science, Information Systems, Strategic Innovation, and Global Business. He has published 67 books, over 300 journal articles, and more than 600 original papers during his career. He has visited more than 120 universities and institutions in 30 countries as a distinguished visiting scholar over the years. He served as President of the Decision Sciences Institute and currently serving as President of the Pan-Pacific Business Association. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Service Business: An International Journal (SSCI journal) and on the editorial board of some 23 journals. He has produces more than 130 PhD students. He is a Senior Scientist of the Gallup Organization, a global consulting and opinion survey firm. Dr. Lee has received five honorary doctorates for his contribution to global business education. He has visited China for more than 20 times since early 1980s.
