Organizational Culture Construction in Chinese Firms: Research on Rituals’ Forms, Functions, and Intervention Measures

This project aims to investigate the primary forms, functions, and mechanisms of rituals in Chinese companies, the relationship between rituals and organizational culture, and rituals’ impacts on individuals, teams and organizations. The project consists of multiple studies using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies such as interviews, field surveys, laboratory experiments, and field experiments. The results of the studies will help organizations to design their rituals and, more broadly, their culture in order to change and nudge their members’ attitude and behavior effectively. The research can also provide insights for the development and maturation of organizational culture in Chinese companies.
